Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy refers to the conditions that result when nerves that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord from and to the rest of the body are damaged or diseased. Peripheral nerves make up a intricate network that connect the brain and spinal cord to the muscle, skin, internal organs. Damage to those nerves interrupts communication between the brain and other parts of the body.

There are different types of Peripheral neuropathy. Polyneuropathy accounts for the greatest number of peripheral neuropathy cases. It occurs when multiple peripheral nerves throughout a part of the body malfunction at the same time. Polyneuropathy can have a wide variety of causes including expose to certain toxins such as with alcohol abuse, certain vitamin deficiency, poorly controlled diabetes, adverse effect of certain Chemotherapy. Damage to the nerves often result in numbness, tingling, unusual sensation and pain.

The treatment of peripheral neuropathy includes identify and address the cause of the condition for a particular patient, such as better control of diabetes and stopping alcohol abuse, to stop the condition get worse. Unfortunately, peripheral nerve regeneration of is a slow process. The treatment of peripheral neuropathy is mostly symptomatic management. The medications for reducing the symptoms of neuropathy have been less than satisfactory, such as Nortriptyline, Duloxetine Hydrochloride, Gabapentin (Neurontin), Pregabalin (Lyric), Lidocaine patches or cream. Millions of people end up suffering from those symptoms for years. Patients with those symptoms often have a terrible time to get a good sleep. Their quality of life is significantly reduced. Some patient started taking opiates/narcotics drugs in trying to reduce their suffering. They sometime end up with drug addiction yet continue to experience those miserable symptoms.

Now, we have developed an integrative approach for relieving those symptoms without any adverse effects based on my years of clinical experience working with patients with peripheral neuropathy. This approach provides an integrative individualized treatment plan based on each patient unique presentation, overall health status and genetic feature, maximizing the chance for symptoms resolution or significant reduction. It will involve some homework, but It will be worthy it for your health and quality of life.
